Description:
We’re looking for nine smart writers to grow our network of websites. This gig is a great, flexible way to supplement your income.
Flexibility. This gig is flexible. You can work when and how much you want and from anywhere you have an internet connection.
Initiative and Discipline. While flexibility is a great benefit of this position, it also requires that you have the self-discipline to meet our minimum production requirements. You must be able to take initiative and work independently.
Quantity. We prefer at least five articles a week, but many of our writers produce 15-40+ articles a week. We will not be able to keep accepting articles from you if you submit less than ten articles per month.
Pay. Pay is $10 per article. Minimum average article length is 400 words.
Topics. We are currently looking for writers that are comfortable writing articles in at least one of the following topics:
You’ll be able to choose the topics you write on by selecting articles from an open pool that is kept at approximately 500 titles. If you are not comfortable writing in at least one of the topics listed above, then this is probably not the right gig for you.
One-on-one Editor Relationship. You’ll work one-on-one with an editor, submitting your articles and receiving feedback through an online system.
Writing Style. Our articles are non-fiction, fact-based, and encyclopedic. They are not fictional, narrative, or blog-like. You’ll need to be able to do your own research, get your mind around the topic, and then write a clear and authoritative article on it. If you are not comfortable with this type of research and writing, then this is probably not the right gig for you. We’ll provide you with a basic and easy-to-apply writing style guide that we’ll expect your writing to conform to.
Payment Method. Payments are made by PayPal, usually within 2 days of article submission.
Byline. Articles include a byline, offering writers, especially those that are just starting out, the opportunity to build their portfolio.
Copyright. Your submissions will become our property. You are of course welcome to cite or link to the articles that you submitted.
Independent Contractor. This is an independent contractor position.
US Citizens & Non-US Citizens. This position is available to US citizens. It is also available to non-US citizens whose work is conducted outside of the US, though a strong knowledge of American English is a strict requirement.
Testing Process. Qualified candidates will be asked to proceed through a writing test before being formally accepted to write for us. The testing process will consist of three batches of three articles each. Editors will provide you with feedback between batches that you will need to apply in your subsequent test batch(es) in order to continue on in the testing process. You will be paid the normal rate for the test articles, assuming they represent a good faith effort and do not contain any plagiarism.
