BudgetTravel.com, the website of Arthur Frommer’s Budget Travel magazine, and owned by Newsweek Budget Travel, is looking for editorial interns for the fall.
While editorial duties will be scaled to match your skill and academic level, we are looking for interns preferably at the graduate level who have a demonstrated maturity and who are familiar with the travel space and/or online media. We welcome interns concentrating their studies in online, photo, video, or photography.
Requirements:
• attentiveness to detail
• ability to meet deadlines while working independently
• experience in Internet research
• course work in journalism, or a demonstrated commitment to journalism in one’s extra-curricular time
• published clips and blogging experience with a “practical-advice-oriented” journalism focus are a plus, but not required
• experience with HTML and with a content management system a plus, but not required
• familiarity with basic PC or Mac tools, such as MS Word
Responsibilities include the following:
• learning our social media and content management systems to appropriately tag and organize our online content at budgettravel.com
• writing short posts for our blog, This Just In (http://current.newsweek.com/budgettravel/)
• fact-checking and researching/writing Web-only features
• participation in editorial meetings
• administrative tasks, as needed, though nearly all of the tasks are ones requiring editorial judgment
This internship is unpaid. Time commitment: minimum of 12 hours, maximum of 20 hours.
Along those lines, we at walki-talki.com would love to have scripts for walking tours that can be recorded into the audio packages that we sell through our web site and the App Store (for iPhone and iPod Touch).
We are happy to split revenues with authors, and depending on how quickly you can produce, we can even front some of your expenses.
