Tips:

• “Internships” aren’t just for the kids anymore. In this market, even post-grad young professionals will consider unpaid seasonal employment, without the hassle of negotiating academic credit.
• For positions that include real responsibility (and even ones that don’t), remind potential applicants of perks for free work: “Gain exposure,” “ get clips,” or “learn the ins and outs of the industry” have strong track records.
• Recruiting more experienced talent? Avoid the word “internship” and mention a token honorarium. Why not offer a quasi-apology? As in, “While this will be an unpaid position, we are prepared to assist students in obtaining academic credit for the experience.”
